Courses and Institutions
The enormous range of educational opportunities – foundation courses, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and diplomas, and research programmes – available in the UK can sometimes leave a prospective student confused. Consider the following while choosing an institution that would be best for you:

• Do the teaching and learning methods used on the course suit you?
• Can you afford or fund the tuition fee?
• What are the opportunities for paid part-time employment?
• Does the campus location suit your temperament? Does an urban location suit you or would you perform better in a smaller, rural environment?
• Will you be provided accommodation or will you have to find your own?
• What facilities – library, computing, careers, health and welfare, sports, etc – are provided?
• Are the qualifications you will receive recognised in the country you propose to work in eventually?
• Are the support services offered for the welfare of international students adequate?
• What opportunities are available for leisure and travel – entertainment, proximity to places of interest, etc?

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements depend on the course and university you choose. Proven academic excellence and/or work experience is sometimes mandatory for courses such as the MBA.

Assistance with Application Forms and Acceptance Letters
We assist students in identifying the course and university best suited to their profile and future requirements. We also assist our students with documentation to be submitted with the application forms.

Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme (ORSAS)

Besides these, some UK research councils offer scholarships through the British Council for research programmes in Science and Humanities. UNESCO and WHO operate award schemes for students from developing countries.

Assistance in Obtaining Bank Loans
Banks in India aim to disperse the equivalent of £45 million in study loans this year; making it easier than ever for students to borrow as much as Rs 15,00,000 to meet their tuition and living expenses overseas. The Combine Company has entered into an agreement with the Bank of Punjab to provide a one-stop shop for quick processing of applications and loan sanctioning.

Accommodation
The three primary types of accommodation available to international students studying in the UK include residential accommodation at the institution of study, home stay accommodation with a British family, and stay at a hostel, hotel or guesthouse.

Part-time Employment
Students are now allowed to work part-time up to 20 hours a week during term and full-time during vacations (which total approximately 14 weeks). Weekly earnings are usually in the range of £4 -5 but increase with the number of hours put in. Postgraduate students prefer to restrict their part-time work to 10-15 hours a week, as their courses are more intensive and demanding.

Visa Guidance
Once students receive an offer letter from a university we provide them guidance in applying for student’s visas through techniques such as mock visa-interview sessions.

Pre-departure Briefings
Pre-departure briefings include advice on the arrangements students must make before they travel to Britain. This includes advice on travel tickets, clothing, foreign exchange, airport pick-up by university staff, etc.

Assistance in London
The Combine Company’s associates in the UK possess over 20 years of experience in the field of secondary and tertiary education. They provide unrivalled services for overseas students and take care of all their initial requirements, including pastoral care and support during their stay and academic support. This is a facility that is particularly appreciated by our students, many of who are travelling overseas for the time.

Healthcare
Most British universities have health centres staffed by qualified nurses who offer confidential services dealing with all aspects of healthcare. They refer students to doctors and dentists whenever necessary. The health centres are open to all students and appointments are not necessary.

Career Guidance and Counselling
British universities are concerned with the well being of their student bodies. Students facing personal or education-related problems are encouraged to approach their personal tutors. However, trained counsellors are also available for those who in need of their services.

Career service advisors are trained to provide guidance on choice of occupation and employer.
They assist students with resume writing, job applications and interview techniques.
They also provide job search workshops and on-course careers programmes.
